The area of Initial and Pre-school Education of the Private School “San Gerardo” provides an integral training, which covers socio-affective, cognitive, expressive and motor aspects. It is based on the Montessori methodology that promotes natural and spontaneous learning through playful education and sensory stimulation, in a warm, respectful, protected and reliable environment.
Its orderly, aesthetic environments, equipped with psycho-pedagogical material suitable for each age group, provide a stimulating environment that allows the child to construct “natural” notions and cognitive structures that will serve as a basis for future school requirements in areas of: Literacy, verbal, numerical reasoning, psychomotor development and other cognitive and motor skills that should be further developed through schooling.
Free Play: It develops under principles of active play pedagogy, provides freedom for play, provides working corners that allow:

- Physical Education
Propending the practice of Physical Culture, recognizing and valuing its corporal scheme as a means of communicating ideas and feelings through movement and body expressions.
To get students to acquire knowledge and begin in the development of digital skills, with projections within the ICT in a friendly and playful way.
Motivate and bring the child closer to learning the English language, developing speaking and listening skills with a communicative and playful approach through songs, games, works and projects as a vehicle of learning.
- Phonological Awareness
To develop in the child the ability to analyze the components of speech, avoiding that due to the lack of stimulation, maturity or specific difficulties, present a delay in the acquisition of reading skills.
Our stimulation program also includes work with the arts such as music, dance and body language, which makes children from an early age develop sensitivity to art. This educational project has been serving children and young people in Loja for 19 years, becoming the pioneer center in offering this educational service and in managing programs for the inclusion of children with special abilities in the city of Loja.
